Our commitment

Splendid Magazine covers the world — and we believe our storytelling should reflect the diversity of the places, cultures, designers, hoteliers and communities we feature.

Editorial coverage

We actively seek out stories from under-represented destinations, emerging designers, independent hoteliers, and Indigenous-owned and women-owned hospitality businesses. We aim to feature a broad range of cultural perspectives in our destination guides, hotel reviews and style features, and to avoid the narrow Eurocentric gaze that has historically dominated luxury travel media.

Commissioning

When commissioning contributing writers, photographers and stylists, we actively seek talent from diverse backgrounds — across gender, ethnicity, age, nationality, sexuality, and ability. We welcome pitches from freelancers of all backgrounds at april@worldofsplendid.com.

Language

We are mindful of language that stereotypes or exoticises destinations and communities. Our editorial style guide is reviewed regularly to reflect evolving standards in inclusive travel writing.

Accountability
