THE VENICE VENICE HOTEL

The Perfect Weekend in Venice: a labyrinth of canals, palazzi, and light that shimmers on the water. For design lovers, a weekend here is more than a getaway - it’s an immersion in texture, history, and beauty. At its heart is The Venice Venice Hotel, Alessandro and Francesca Gallo’s bold reimagining of one of the city’s oldest palaces. More than a stay, it’s an invitation to inhabit Venice’s past, present, and future all at once.

The Story: Ca’ da Mosto Reimagined

The Venice Venice Hotel, occupies the storied Palazzo Ca’ da Mosto, one of the oldest palaces on the Grand Canal, its history stretching back to the 13th century. Long the residence of the Da Mosto family, prominent members of the Venetian patriciate, it later passed through various hands before falling into neglect.

When Alessandro and Francesca Gallo acquired it, they saw more than an architectural treasure - they saw a chance to restore its spirit. Their guiding concept, “Postvenezianità” honors Venetian heritage while embracing innovation. The result layers time: raw stone and ancient timber beams sit comfortably alongside contemporary art, sleek furniture, and custom design elements.

Nearly every detail is bespoke - from light switches to furniture - many designed by the Gallos themselves or in collaboration with artisans. The spaces are animated by works from movements like Arte Povera, Radical Architecture, and Fluxus, giving the hotel a soul that is as intellectual as it is aesthetic.

Arrival & Atmosphere

Arriving at The Venice Venice feels like stepping into a private world. The ancient façade, one of the last remaining examples of Veneto-Byzantine architecture, has been lovingly restored, its arches and water-worn stone standing proudly against the Grand Canal. Inside, the lobby glows with natural light, reflecting off exposed brick, polished stone, and the occasional mirror-like surface - a nod to Venice’s relationship with water and light.

The effect is immediate: the bustle of the city recedes, replaced by quiet elegance and the soft rhythm of canal life. This is Venice, but seen through a fresh, forward-looking lens.

Room 35: The Largest Suite in Venice

Our stay in Room 35 / The Venice Suite felt like inhabiting a private palazzo - fitting, as it is officially the largest suite in Venice. Spanning an impressive 190 square metres, it offers a level of space and grandeur that is almost unheard of in the city.

Soaring ceilings, terrazzo floors, and expansive windows frame uninterrupted views of the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge. The suite includes a king bed, double bathtub with amenities by The Erose, a private Turkish bath, and two Bang & Olufsen TVs (including a 56-inch Horizon screen). Every detail feels considered, from the way the light moves across the room to the generous living spaces designed for slow, intentional living - the perfect stage for a Venetian weekend.Dining: A Table on the Grand Canal

DINING AT THE VENICE VENICE

At The Venice Venice, dining is as atmospheric as the setting.

Breakfast on the Grand Canal: The morning begins with a beautifully arranged breakfast bar cart on the terrace, with views of Venetian vaporetti gliding past in the dawn light.

Venice M’Art Restaurant: Open from midday, this all-day restaurant is casual yet deeply stylish, offering Venetian and international fare, small plates, and a lively, social energy.

Evening Dining: As the sun sets, the terrace becomes a stage. Candles are lit, tables are dressed, and dinner unfolds against the dramatic backdrop of the Mercato Vecchio and Rialto Bridge.

Venice M’Art: Culture & Creativity

One of the most unique aspects of The Venice Venice is Venice M’Art, the hotel’s ground-floor concept space. Located in the former Sotoportego del Traghetto - historically a hub of commerce - it has been reimagined as a place for art exhibitions, boutique shopping, coffee, and aperitivo.

The Mart showcases collaborations with artists, designers, and makers, as well as curated objects that guests can purchase to bring a piece of Venice home. It is not merely a retail space, but an extension of the hotel’s ethos: a platform for creativity and exchange that connects guests to the city’s living culture.

Why Design Lovers Will Love It

Because The Venice Venice is more than a hotel - it’s a manifesto. It is a celebration of heritage reborn, where palazzo walls whisper their past while modern art challenges you to see Venice anew. Every object, every material, every view feels intentional. You don’t just stay here; you participate in a living, breathing dialogue between history and design.
